What Is Retropie? And How Do I Install Games Onto Retropie?

Retropie is a platform that allows you to play games from a list of consoles, including but not limited to:

  • Playstation 1

  • SNES

  • NES

  • Gameboy

  • Arcade Games

Once you have it downloaded and set up, you'll notice that you don't have any games on it!! For that you need game ROMs, which are in a very grey area of the law. That could be a whole other article, but the short explanation is that some ROMs are illegal, and the rest are in a grey area of the law.

Since this is a PRIVATE blog, I guess I'll link to the site where I get my ROMs. If I ever (not likely) publicize this blog, I will take down or edit this article.

So how to you get games onto your RetroPie?

This WILL NOT be a tutorial of how to set up RetroPie. I will assume that you have already set it up.

Steps:

1. Go to RetroPie setup and set it up so that you can publically reach it through a computer. You will want to install Putty to do this.

2. Go to a Windows Computer, and install 7 Zip. Then, go to vimm.net. This is where you will install your games. Go to "The Vault", and then for our purposes go to Playstation. Find a game that pleases you and install it.

3. Then, go to 7Zip and then double click through Computer>C:\>Users>"Your username".000>and then wherever you installed your game. Then, once you see the game that you installed double click into it and select all of the contents. Then, select copy at the top and copy it to a new folder titled with the game that you installed.

4. Then, at the bottom bar of your computer where it says "Type here to search", type \\RETROPIE. You should see a folders window pop up. In that window, go to the Retropie section. Open it, and go through to where it says Roms. You will see a bunch of folders pop up. Then, go to the place where you extracted the contents of your game.

5. Select them, and drag them into the sub folder of Roms in Retropie titled "Psx". Once it is successfully copied, close that folder. Go back to your Retropie, and restart it through the start menu. Then, you should see the Playstation console pop up and in there should be your game!

6. Enjoy, and play wisely!

I hope this helps for you!

Personally, I love the Limoncello La Croix. It is still available at some places — although it is limited. It tastes like lemon, vanilla, but at the same time it doesn’t taste sweet. I loved it and I
